Announcing another international Thespian company production! We are pleased to announce the production of Hairspray, which will be presented at Festival 2008. Based on the 1988 film by John Waters that starred Ricki Lake, Divine, and Sonny Bono, Hairspray tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a young woman with a bouffant hairdo from Baltimore who lands a spot on a local television dance show and quickly becomes a teen celebrity. A new version of the movie, slated to come out sometime next year, will feature performances by John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, and Billy Crystal. The musical comedy will require a company of more than forty-five actors and technicians who will gather for two rehearsal sessions in the spring of 2008 and a week’s worth of fine-tuning right before the Thespian Festival. Vance Fulkerson, director of music theatre for the University of Northern Colorado and an EdTA member, will direct the show. Hairspray cast and crew:
