EdTA is the professional association for theatre education. EdTA’s pre-professional membership was created to provide support for theatre education majors. Membership is available to any person 18 years or older who is currently enrolled as a full-time college, university, or conservatory student and is interested in making theatre or theatre education an important part of their continuing education or professional life. When you become a pre-professional member, you’ll join with others who support national and international efforts to improve the status and quality of theatre education. You’ll also have access to a wide range of professional development opportunities and resources at a special student-friendly rate. Benefits of EdTA pre-professional membership include: - Special member rates for purchasing educational resources sold through EdTA.
- Special EdTA member rates for all Association events and educational programs. Of particular note is the EdTA Annual Conference, which offers theatre educators and artists three days of comprehensive graduate-level professional development, networking, and fellowship in the form of exhibits, demonstrations, panel discussions, hands-on technical workshops, and intensive master classes.
- A one-year subscription to Dramatics magazine (nine issues, September through May).
- A one-year subscription to Teaching Theatre, a quarterly journal for our professional members, which serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and opinions on professional topics and includes reports on recent research, practical articles on teaching and directing, and news about educational theatre (four issues quarterly).
- Access to members-only content on the EdTA website.
- Access to networking opportunities, including our online membership directory.
- A résumé-building opportunity as a member of the professional organization for theatre education: EdTA.
- A personalized membership card.
- And as a special benefit, pre-professional members will receive a certificate good for $25 off registration for any one EdTA event or education program scheduled within the membership term!
To join, simply download the PDF version of the pre-professional membership application, fill it out, have an official college representative sign it to verify current enrollment, and submit it along with payment using the contact information on the application. Each year we will send your first renewal notice approximately two months before your membership expiration date. When you receive a renewal notice, simply return the tear-off portion of your invoice and verification of enrollment along with your payment to avoid a break in your membership benefits. When your enrollment ends or you graduate from your current program, we look forward to welcoming you as a professional member of EdTA. If you have any questions regarding pre-professional membership, feel free to contact us at members@edta.org. |
