How you can help support EdTA programming

Your tax-deductible contribution to the Educational Theatre Association is an excellent and effective way to support our vision of performing arts education as a foundation for lifelong learning. Everything we do—the Thespian Festival, our professional development programs for educators, our publications, our support services for members—is designed to make that vision a reality.

That work costs a lot of money. While many of our activities are self-sustaining, there are some programs that we choose to operate at a loss simply because they are so important to our mission. One of the few ways we have to make up that deficit is through contributions by people who care about theatre education, in schools and beyond.

When you donate to EdTA, you will receive benefits such as name recognition in various publications and our quarterly Insider Newsletter, which keeps you informed of current programs and events here at EdTA and the International Thespian Society. Making a gift to EdTA is the perfect way to follow the Thespian motto to “act well your part.”

Here are some of the ways you can put tax-deductible contributions to work for theatre education:

  • Supporting EdTA higher education scholarship funds. Each year EdTA and its chapters award some $150,000 in merit scholarship funds to college-bound theatre students. We’d like to do more, and you can help with a donation to one of our scholarship funds.
  • Supporting Thespian Festival grants for students and educational programming funds for students and teachers. We offer Thespian Festival grants to cover the costs of Festival attendance to students who otherwise couldn’t afford to attend.
  • Sponsorships. Program sponsors receive highly visible billing in advertising, program materials, and onsite displays. Sponsorships are available with a variety of EdTA’s programs and activities such as the International Thespian Festival, EdTA Annual Conference, Professional Development Institutes, Junior Thespian Festivals, and Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat (TOTS-EAT).
  • Our Legacy Circle. By remembering EdTA in your will or designating EdTA as a beneficiary of your whole life insurance policy, it is possible to make a gift that will have a lasting impact on the future of educational theatre.

All other donations made to EdTA without a designation are tax-deductible and support the ongoing work of the Association in many other fields such as publications, Web presence, advocacy, student leadership development, volunteer leader development, student programs, professional development, and more.
